Bioinformatics and Genomics unit (B&Gu)

Prof. Raffaele Adolfo Calogero

Prof. Raffaele A Calogero is the PI of the  B&Gu is an interdisciplinary research group focusing on the use of genomics and transcriptomics data to identify biomarkers and to understand the molecular basis of cancer and multifactorial diseases, e.g. multiple sclerosis.
B&Gu has a multi year experience in high-throughput data data generation and analysis. The group is involved in optimization and development of bioinformatics pipe-lines for transcriptomic data analysis. Specifically B&Gu is actively involved in Bioconductor packages (CHIMERAoneChannelGUI) and BaseSpace applications development.
The group is actively involved in the development of "liquid biopsy approaches" focusing on the whole characterization (DNA/RNA/Proteins) of circulating exosomes in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Since 2001 B&Gu provides practical wet and bioinformatics training for the use of genomics and transcriptomics methodologies (www.bioinformatica.unito.it).
Since 2010 Prof Raffaele Calogero run, in collaboration with the PI of the EMBL Genomics Core Lab an EMBL Advanced Course on Whole Transcriptome Data Analysis.
B&Gu acts as consultant and collaborator for various groups in Italy (IRST, UNINA, UNIBO, UNIFI), Europe () ,USA (CAMARGO LAB) and ASIA.
