Equipment And Technical Specifications
The Interdepartmental Research Center for Molecular Biotechnologies (MBC) of the University of Turin houses research infrastructures dedicated to animal housing and gene transfer. The equipment has been acquired with contributions from Regione Piemonte.

- Molecular Biology Laboratories
- Two microinjection devices for embryos, equipped with Nomarski optics microscopes
- Electroporator
- Stereoscopic microscopes
- SPF breeding facility for mice, including various strains used as donors and recipients

Applications and Services
- Plasmid construction for homologous recombination in ES cells
- Generation of mutant ES cells through gene targeting, including genetic analysis
- In vitro differentiation of wild-type or mutant ES cells through embryoid body formation or lineage-specific differentiation stimulation
- Microinjection of ES cells (in-house generated or obtained from public consortia) to produce chimeric mice
- Generation of mutant mice (KO, K/in) using CRISPR/Cas9 and direct zygote manipulation
- Screening of newborn pups to identify and characterize mutant alleles
- Cell line or primary mutant cell generation via CRISPR/Cas9, including in utero DNA electroporation for gene overexpression, silencing, or mutagenesis (optional service).
Access and Fees
- Access is by reservation only, accompanied by authorized personnel.
- Experimental design support available upon request.
- Fees are determined based on specific requests.
